Lo (Ma) says an angel – a two-spirited angel – brought all of us (my sisters and brothers and me) to her. She had escaped from the City to the hills. When she was under the bush with purple flowers and about ready to have us she told our father Sau, with wonder in her voice, “A Bright Light came…and I sensed four or five souls behind me outside the bushes.

“It all happened very fast (and then S·he was gone) but I think Rilo, Rej and Knoc, Isi and Uji, came from far…far… away.”

We live on the Cat People Planet. We, too, seem to be two-spirited: feline when we are born, then gradually walking upright…looking human more and more as we grow up.

Rilo, my fun-loving sister, especially seems to remember when we lived on the tiny blue planet.

After we were born, and grew up a little bit, Lo and Sau took us to the City. There they are ruled by The Tyrants. Our goal, we were sent there: to disperse with the tyranny.
